IN MEMORIAM - VETERAN BOB RICE
It is with profound sadness that we must say goodbye to our good friend, Veteran Bob Rice, who passed away on August 8. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday on July 17. A combined Legion and Lions service in his honour will take place at the Coldwater Branch on Saturday August 17, at 1:30 p.m. Flags at the branch were lowered to half-mast for the past three days, and will be lowered again on the day of the service.
Born in Scotland in 1929, Bob was a Veteran of the Royal Air Force (1947-1949), having served as a Flight Engineer on board RAF aircraft during the famous Berlin Airlift. After immigrating to Canada, he served an additional eight years as an aircraft mechanic with the Canadian Forces Air Reserves. Bob was a member of the Legion since 1970, particularly active and a regular on the Colour Party with the Coldwater Branch in the past few decades.
On behalf of the Coldwater Branch, we offer our sincere condolences to Bob’s partner of more than 40 years, his wife Irene, their family and friends.
